Spinal hemangiopericytoma is a rare neoplasm that behaves similar to intracranial hemangiopericytoma, with approximately 140 cases being reported in the literature. We report a case of recurrent hemangiopericytoma of dorsal spine in a 55-year-old women treated with surgery for 3 times, with liver metastasis.
Thirty-nine chemotherapy trials in 16 patients with metastatic hemangiopericytoma treated at MSKCC and 33 trials from the literature are reviewed. Adriamycin, alone or in combination drug regimens, is the most effective agent, producing complete and partial remission in 50% of cases. Other drugs which show some activity include vincristine, cyclophosphamide, actinomycin, methotrexate and DTIC.
The objective of this study was to share our We utilized computed tomography to assure multiple tumor metastasis and cranial recurrence of previous meningeal hemangiopericytoma and clinical laboratory tests and immunohistochemical staining to characterize this case. Magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography showed the recurrent tumor at original torcular site was increased in size. 2007-06-06 A meningeal hemangiopericytoma (MHPC) is an aggressive tumor characterized by a high rate of local recurrence and late distant metastasis. The objective of this study was to share our experience with the treatment of a MHPC and how to distinguish this tumor from a meningioma. BACKGROUND: Intracranial solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytoma (SFT/HPC) often shows extracranial metastasis, and treatment options are very limited. Immune-checkpoint molecules have not been studied well in SFT/HPCs, and their role in intracranial SFT/HPCs remains unclear.

Skull and abdominal computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance The authors describe a rare case of hemangiopericytoma with cervical metastasis. A 34 year-old man with a history of intracranial hemangiopericytoma complained of a weakness of his right hand. Both CT scan and MR imaging demonstrated homogeneous enhanced tumor in his C5 vertebral body, right facet joint and lamina. Preoperative embolization was performed in order to decrease bleeding during Download Citation | On Nov 1, 2005, Young Il Jeong and others published Case of cutaneous metastasis from intracranial hemangiopericytoma | Find, read and cite all the research you need on Hemangiopericytoma Yes, it is possible for these tumors to travel to other parts of the body but normally this beast does not go else where. My wife had her first surgery for a fist sized Hemangiopericytoma in 2005 and all was well until 3 more of these monsters developed in the same area in 2009 and removed via Gamma Knife. She had a voluminous hepatic metastasis and multiple small lung metastases from a meningeal hemangiopericytoma initially operated on 11 years earlier.
Meningeal/intracranial SFT/HPCs (icSFT/HPC) have a poor clinical outcome with metastatic behavior compared to soft tissue/extracranial SFT/HPCs (exSFT/HPC), but the underlying genetic factors are unclear.

Therefore, the tumor was diagnosed as a metastatic hemangiopericytoma with malignant potential. Careful long-term follow-up is required because metastases can develop after an extended disease-free interval.
It is associated with capillaries, therefore they may occur anywhere in the body. Most common locations include the lower extremities, pelvic retroperitoneum, head and neck. Clinically, hemangiopericytoma is usually of insidious onset. In cases of inoperable recurrence or metastasis, palliative chemotherapy is indicated, though there is currently no approved chemotherapy regimen. Therefore new treatment regimens are needed. Intracranial hemangiopericytoma is a rare neoplasm with potential for recurrence and metastasis. Severe hypoglycemia is a paraneoplastic complication of some malignancies, mediated most commonly by nonislet cell tumor production of insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF-2) that activates insulin receptors and increases glucose cell entry.
